Mastering the Minecraft beacon is one of the most rewarding achievements for any player looking to dominate their world. This block projects a powerful pyramid-shaped beam into the sky while granting a range of beneficial status effects to you and your teammates. To activate this block, you must construct a specific pyramid structure using iron blocks, gold blocks, emerald blocks, diamond blocks, or netherite blocks, and place the beacon block on top.
Understanding the Beacon Block
Before diving into the construction, it is essential to understand what this item is and how it functions. A beacon is a block that emits a beam upward and provides status effects such as Speed, Haste, Resistance, Jump Boost, and Regeneration to players within its range. The area of effect expands based on the size of the pyramid base, allowing for a single player to buff an entire team. The block requires a solid block base and a specific pattern of mineral blocks to power the internal furnace that generates the beam.
Gathering the Core Materials
The first step in the process is amassing the raw materials required for the structure. You will need a total of 164 mineral blocks to create the largest and most effective pyramid, though smaller configurations are possible if you are short on resources. Here is a breakdown of the materials needed for the different pyramid tiers:
Mineral Block Requirements
To build the beacon pyramid, you must collect specific blocks arranged in a descending pattern. The base layer requires the most blocks, while the top layers require fewer. You can mix different mineral blocks (Iron, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Netherite) to complete the shape, but they must be placed in layers of uniform block type.
Constructing the Pyramid Base
Once you have gathered your iron blocks, gold blocks, or diamond blocks, it is time to build. Find a clear area where you want the beacon to reside, as the beam can be seen from far away. Begin by placing the 9x9 layer of your chosen mineral block, ensuring that the edges are aligned. Stack a 7x7 layer on top of that, centered on the base. Continue this process, reducing the size by two blocks on each side until you reach the 3x3 top layer. This structure forms the energy source that powers the beacon.
Activating the Beacon
With the pyramid complete, you can now place the beacon block on top of the center of the 3x3 layer. Right-click the block to open the interface, where you will select the status effect you wish to emit. To power the beacon, you must insert an item into the slot; typically, this is an ingot, gem, or nether star. Once the block is fed, the beam will activate, shooting into the sky, and the buff zone will take effect. Players standing within the colored beam radius will receive the beneficial status effect you selected.
